Summary

Ch. 6 "The 'Kingdom' of God"

-the Kingdom is not within us it is around us. This is a mistranslation that has lead to many theological misconceptions.

-people around Jesus' time did not have a conception as heaven as a place for the after life. Heaven was a synonm for God. Therefore when the Gospels speak of the Kingdom of God they are not refering to our perception of heaven as the after life.

-the Kingdom was meant to be an actual kingdom or society where God's morals and believer's ethics were ingrained into the infrastructure.

-The Kingdom of God is when heaven's values are present in this world.

-Jesus saw the world a ruled be Satan (a regin of evil). The Kingdom of God

  1. I would like to add that the Kingdom was to theoretically have God's morals ingrained into it because Jesus believed that the political structures were ruled and created by Satan. It was meant to bring about a place of salvation for the poor and oppressed as prophesied in the Beatitudes.
